Uphill by Christina Rossetti
Does the road wind up-hill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the day’s journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.
But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
You cannot miss that inn.
Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you standing at that door.
Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yea, beds for all who come.

Thanks for sharing that one Cathryn... also a long-time favourite of mine from Rossetti's works.
Read a bit of your blog... sounds like you've been through some sorrowful days. Found some of your reflections very helpful, esp. your last paragraph in 'Can grief be called good?' Incredibly true and very comforting. Blessings Janice
Janice, I have been through sorrows but have come to understand that Most of us go through dark valleys, some ignor and run from them or denie them. THose folks won't grow from them but be diminished by them.
Also, I believe my experiences are merely a part of God's call to partake in the sufferings of CHrist.
Even though I say these words with ease, I don't always feel them. I am thankful that during the days when I didn't have much friendship support God would break through and surprise me Himself and remarkable circumstances. Recently with some more struggles I have support from many friends and family. helps alot. I'll be sharing another part of my story soon.
glad you like rossetti..what ones are your favorites?

I missed your comment (until now) on my post about 7 Biblical truths ... Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Thanks also for the book suggestions, I'll keep my eye out for them.
Did you write the book review on "Radical Hospitality"?
yes, i wrote the book review, Radical hospitality. If you can get to it...i am having trouble with the early big paragraph that talks about the sisters and the benedictine monastery. i can't seem to get it to flow AND get the impact of what these women meant to my folks life and mine.
fell free to answer my book tag.
